Experiencia fantástica: This is the best yoga centre in Tulum. I recommend Jorge’s class and Wise Yoga. The dome is really beautiful and perfect for kundalini yoga. However I will recommend you to go with the most experienced Kundalini teachers. There’s one young teacher that always arrives late, such a bummer. The place is really relaxing blended in nature with sacred geometries. The restaurant is also really nice

Experiencia negativa: I took a yoga class here. It was actually one of the best classes I had but Spanish speaking dominantly. The only thing that made me upset, before coming I asked them what do I need to bring, they only told me comfortable clothing. When class ended, the instructor were talking with some students, they suddenly shifted conversation to english and they started complaining that some students don’t bring towel without communicating this directly to me. Ruined a good amount of positive energy I got from class. You can be mature enough to communicate directly with people.

Experiencia negativa: The girls working the desk are nice and polite. However, they could not be bothered to remember my name – or that I was even a guest at the hotel. I was in the office to book classes, treatments, and activities multiple times a day. Each time I was asked, “What’s your name again? Are you a guest here?” I have given this review a lot of thought before writing it down, and I think that this is due to so much of the property being open to the public. Anyone can come in and book a class or activity, so there’s a lot of non-guests coming through the office. However, as guest of the hotel, I was paying top dollar to be a guest on the property (and in a private room). Nothing about my stay made me feel that was worth it or that I was even welcome. I could have stayed at an AirBnB down the road and received the same experience and treatment from the staff. Offering a small discount to hotel guests for classes is not enough to make us feel welcome or that spending money to stay on property as a guest was worth it. Again, I provide this as someone who has been to several wellness resorts. For example, Kamalaya in Thailand has 76 rooms, so larger than Holistika. Everyone on their wellness staff made an effort to remember the guests, what treatments you had, and chat with you about your overall experience. They even remembered my boyfriend from the prior year. It’s that effort that makes a difference in someone’s experience. The Retreat in Costa Rica also exceled in this area. It’s a small property, but everyone from the concierge, the chefs, the waiters, to the wellness staff, remembered my name and small details about me (like that my grandmother was from Mexico and I was trying to practice my Spanish). They also weren’t helpful in suggesting classes. Some of the classes have helpful descriptions on the website, but they don’t mention what level. I know “all of the classes are mixed levels,” but that’s not entirely true for something like Detox Yoga or Full Power Yoga (with Vane) that include a lot of arm balances and inversions. Fortunately, I had taken Kayla’s classes, and I had a point of reference when discussing the schedule with them. I asked one girl if the Detox Yoga was difficult, she said “if it’s too difficult, you can just bail into child’s pose.” I came back later to book and pay and asked the same question to the other girl. “I took Kayla’s Hot Tropic Yoga, is this one more difficult?” Fortunately, she said, “Yes, it’s typically taken by more advanced students.” Yes, you can bail into child’s pose, but if I’m going to pay for a class, I don’t want to spend the entire time frustrated and in child’s pose. Flash forward to Friday when I asked the same question about Vane’s Full Power Yoga. Again, the first girl said, “it’s mixed levels, so you can sign up.” I came back again later to book and pay. Fortunately, I ran into Kayla who was truthful about the level of the class in comparison to the classes I took with her. She was like, “Oh yea, it’s hard, but I think you can do it.” Okay, that was the hardest yoga class I’ve taken in my life! Here’s where the issue is. I was fine, I hung in there and did every move. You know who wasn’t fine? The family of three who told Vane it was the VERY FIRST yoga class EVER. They left halfway through the class. I felt so bad for them, and now they are probably discouraged from ever trying yoga ever again. Speaking from experience, my first yoga class was awful. I had a horrible teacher who was trying a hands-on assist, got so frustrated, that she pushed me over. It was YEARS before I had enough confidence to return to yoga. I can only imagine how this family felt. What separates the great wellness places from the rest is the wellness staff. They’re knowledgeable on every class and treatment. They will help you create a personalized schedule based on your needs. Don't expect that here. The staff is only there to take your money and put your name on a list.

Experiencia positiva: I love this studio but, deducting 1 star because they seem to make it difficult for locals to get the local price. Its almost like I have to jump through hoops to proove I live here every time I come to check in. Its strange because the classes usually have very few people in them, you would think they would want more locals to attend.

Experiencia fantástica: This yoga studio is absolutely beautiful. I did an evening Vinyasa class which was 90 mins, in English, and reasonably priced at $250MX. It’s a bit of a walk out of town, so the walk back in the dark felt a little bit unsafe, I wouldn’t have done it alone but was fine with 2 of us, and you can get a taxi from outside if needed as it’s a hotel. The yoga was good, worked up a sweat and was just so relaxing in the amazing studio. There are so many classes available and you can book online and through their instagram account. Highly recommend.

Experiencia fantástica: After I was introduced to an ashtanga class at Holistika, I was immediately hooked. I ended up taking a bunch of classes and workshops — it felt like a second home! The instructors are all AMAZING. They are *all* incredible at what they do. They challenge you but are also very gracious and gentle. I highly, highly recommend coming here when you're in Tulum! I can't wait to come back!

Experiencia fantástica: Beautiful space and all instructors are good to great! Enjoyed coming here over my 2 weeks in Tulum and will definitely miss this space. Website boking system is set up really well with up to date schedule and a quick online reservation process.
