Experiencia fantástica: I have been going to the 7 am yoga classes for over two years, generally 5 days a week. Sara is an excellent teacher with a lifetime of knowledge. Everyone in the class is very friendly and we share a lot of laughter along with our yoga. I highly recommend this class.
Experiencia fantástica: I love the yoga classes here. I'm pretty sure Sara knows every pose and the variety of moves makes each session fun and interesting. There's something for all levels, and the gym has extra mats and lots of supportive gear, blocks, blankets etc. Plus, there's plenty of space to spread out, I'm not comfortable when there is not enough personal space.
Experiencia fantástica: Update: I've now been attending the 7 am Restorative Yoga class for the past 5 months and, oh my! Everyone who attends, young and old, foreign and local, fit and fat, achy bones and flexible, all find something helpful in this class. Sara seems to innately know what parts of the body we need to work on on any given day. You won't repeat many poses or exercises in a two month period; it is truly something different every day so you won't ever get bored. I've not been feeling positive about yoga for a few years and was very hesitant to try this class, even though I knew Sara was excellent at adapting to her students' needs, but now I look forward to getting up earlyish and moving my body in loving ways, as well as being a part of this welcoming community. ********************* This is the most wonderful gym I have ever been a part of in ANY country. If you are looking for a gym with a heart, then you should check out Body Working Fitness & Health. The focus of this gym is not weight lifting but Zumba, spinning, yoga and Pilates classes (although you can come and use the weights and other tools during class hours). The participants are mainly (but not exclusively) women, both Mexican and foreign. Some of the latter group have been coming to these classes every winter for over a decade. Although not much English is spoken, there are many ways to communicate and always with love and laughter. Even when I moved to another part of the city, I was determined to continue attending these classes because of the beautiful feeling of community I found here. All classes are highly individualized and tailored to the needs of the participants, no matter your level of fitness or your particular ailments, but, in particular, Yoga and Pilates will change depending on the needs of the participants on any given day. Sara (the owner and lead instructor) is amazing in her ability to see what you need and make it work for you. She has a youthful energy combined with the wisdom of her 64 years. I have never experienced instructors who are so open about how our bodies work (and don't work). There is no body shame. In fact, quite the opposite. It's refreshing how she'll show off her own belly fat as she demonstrates how to do a dance move or a pilates move without any embarrassment. For those of us without perfect figures, it is a beauty to experience in a gym. You should expect that classes don't always start or end "on time" so it's important to be a little flexible in your schedule, but you're also welcome if you're late, even just for the last 15 minutes of class (as many people do). If you join, be sure to ask to be added to the WhatsApp group to receive notifications of any time changes or last-minute cancellations (and see all the positive messages from group members, in Spanish). The cost varies, depending on which classes you focus on and whether you only want a few classes. There are discounts for paying for a month, rather than a day or week. Yoga Flow: MWF 6 am; Resorative Yoga 7 am M- F; Zumba 8:30 am M-F (sometimes they add a 6 pm class); Spinning or Zumba 7 pm M-F (in the winter they sometimes add Saturday classes); Pilates TTh 9:40 am. Subject to change.
